We are the Cure: Drawings and Visions on COVID-19
MAY 1, 7-8pm and May 9, 1-2:30pm, ZOOM Meeting

As a part of In-Flux: Chicago Artists and Immigration at the Chicago Cultural Center, Sabba Elahi invites the public to “redraw a COVID-19 cure," creating a collective work of healing. A small tile/fragment of an interior view of the corona virus cell will be shared with each participant. During the workshop participants are asked to respond to their visual fragment to “draw a cure,” through drawing and/or stitching, using materials on hand---from colored pencils, pens, sharpies/markers, needle/thread. The workshop artwork and written responses will be translated by Elahi into two machine embroidered textiles: one of the new collective image and the other a word cloud of the most common words/phrases from participants.
